My approach to clean/lube my chain is quick and simple:

1. Wipe the chain by pinching the chain with a rag and back pedaling to clean as much grease off the chain as possible (or until I get impatient to start riding...).

2. Apply 2-3 drops of lube while spinning the pedals. The theory is that this amount of lube will naturally spread out over time and coat the chain. I currently use TriFlow but maybe I'll give Dumande a try when I run out.

That's it. I do this before ~80% of rides and have had good luck. It takes 1-2 minutes each time...I don't ever degrease my chain and it runs pretty smooth/quiet. In my mind this quick-frequent maintenance is easier than "major" maintenance every once in a while.

My bike mechanic skills are pretty simple...not sure if anyone else has tried this!

Or drive 2 days to a race and 2 days back to take the bikes while she flys home.

Pump up the tires, check the brakes, pack the GU and Shot Bloks, preach about sunscreen, eat hamburgers at 9am(thanks IM Kansas 70.3 vendors, they were good).

Pray you'll get to Olympic distance yourself so you can do some more training together.

And pray she'll qualify for Kona. And love every minute of being a Sherpa.

Awesome! I made two attempts at this over the last few years and got turned back partway up Lemmon both times, once by near heat exhaustion, the second time by a big monsoon storm. As far as I can tell, your post here is the only thing on the web about anyone doing this ride. One of these days I'll make it...

In some people, Aspartame can cause some nasty reactions. I also avoid aspartame even if i am not allergic to it. I am more inclined to use natural sweeteners such as Stevia or Xylitol because they are much better than Aspartame based sweeteners. '''*` Many thanks illnesses resource

Hi,

Superb build there! Are you guys using the DA7900 Rear brake caliper or did you stick to the DA7800 Caliper as suggested by scott?

If you used the DA7900 rear caliper, did you make any modification to make the sets work?

Thanks
