We asked the staff of to let us know the “what’s, why’s and how’s” of their favorite running shoes.  Once we had a list compiled, it occurred to us that our customers might be interested in knowing what shoes we wear day-in and day-out.

Here are their actual responses and links to each shoe.  Enjoy!

Steve A. – Product Manager

Newton Cushion Racer
This shoe helped me on my way to a marathon personal record; low profile, light weight, I never knew it was on my foot during training runs.

Ross F. – Retail Staff

Karhu Unisex Racer Fulcrum Ride
This shoe has a big toe box compared to other Karhus.  They are extremely light, good looking and of course very comfortable.

Jeff S. – Warehouse Receiving Clerk

Newton Gravity Neutral Trainer
This is a shoe that feels and fits great from the first time you put them on with or without socks.  The shoe makes you feel like running and never stopping.  I put many long runs in these shoes without any leg soreness or general discomfort associated with increased high mileage training.

Gail L. – Tucson Training Destination Specialist

Brooks Glycerin 8
It’s not fancy or flashy, but this is a good solid everyday trainer for a neutral runner like myself. Super comfy and lots of cush make this shoe perfect for even the longest run. I may race in a lighter, zippier model, but my daily runs are done in the Glycerin.

Tyler E. – Warehouse Receiving Clerk

Newton Motion Stability Trainer
This shoe is a great everyday trainer for runners who are naturally mid-foot/forefoot strikers, as well as mild to moderate over-pronaters. Helped me with a recurring knee issue almost immediately!! These shoes rock!

Matthew D. – Buyer

Asics Kayano 17
A high mileage shoe with great stability

Seton C. – CEO

Zoot Ultra Kane
I absolutely love these shoes – it has been almost 8 years since I have said this about a run shoe.  They are incredibly comfortable and very supportive.  They are awful trail running shoe, but for the roads I wouldn’t run in anything else.

Sarah L. – Director of Marketing

Brooks Trance 9
Cushion-y, comfortable, supportive

Dan G. – Product Manager

Newton Isaac Guidance Stability Trainer
As someone who has battled Achilles tendinitis for more than ten years this shoe has helped immensely. Newtons help you run properly and eliminate the desire to “toe off” with to much force.  Once the adjustment period is over, the “Newton Glide” as I like to call it really kicks in because it feels more like you are gliding then running.

Jaclyn A. – Sponsorship Coordinator

Mizuno Wave Rider 14
They are very light weight and there is lots of cushioning so my feet don’t ache after long runs. Oh yeah, and they have sparkles on them!

Debbie C. – Vice President

Brooks Adrenaline 11
I have run in this shoe longer than any others I have used and it has been consistently comfortable and responsive.  The support is excellent for the pronation I experience, and the narrower cut works well for the shape of my foot.  I also really like Brooks’ commitment to the environment with features like their BIOMOGO and their reduction in packaging.

Betty P. – Customer Service Representative

Zoot Ultra Tempo+ 4.0
This is my favorite race shoe.  Lightweight, Easy-on in Transition and off you go!

Betty P. – Customer Service Representative

Brooks Adrenaline 11
A great all around training and racing shoe!  It has never let me down in 6 years of running.

Sylvia K. – Retail Staff

Zoot Kalani
The upper sole with asymmetrical lacing, lack of a tongue, and a carbon sole make these super comfortable, light weight shoes for both training and racing.  I love how they feel; cushy and super responsive. Employee Top Picks

  1. You have bought AIRmesh?, Dynamotion match technological know-how, lightly padded tongue, Mizuno Intercool? and heel cushioning for greatest shock absorption. Running in these is like a dream! They operate all around $90 and weigh 10 ounces.
