Green Demolition

Just over three years ago we moved into our current location. We spent months planning doing our best to build for our future. I am now sitting in my office listening to some guys absolutely demolish the walls we just erected a few short years ago to make room for our new expansion. Before this project started I was very clear that we had to do what we could to recycle/reuse materials (this is a very tall order in the construction industry as they have little concept of the word “reuse” or “recycle”). To accomodate our request our contractor found us a recycler that is taking our demolished dry wall and steel. This service cost us a significant amount more money but the price is worth it to us. We are also able to reuse several items such as doors, windows, electrical plates, lighting, and more. All in all, our goal is to recycle or reuse over 80% of the demolition material. Keeping true to our values.

The Princeton Tec Remix

The Princeton Tec Remix head mounted run light is a piece of gear that once you use it, you’ll wonder how you got along without one. Sporting a single Maxbirght LED and three Ultrabright LED’s, the Princeton Tec Remix cuts its way through the darkness to allow you to safely transverse the path ahead. The Princeton Tec Remix has multiple beam patterns allow for maximum versatility while on the trail. The versatility of the Princeton Tec Remix continues with the large push button on/off switch and the easily adjustable ratcheting pivoting head – both easily adjusted while on the run with gloves or carrying a hand held hydration bottle like the Ultimate Direction Fastdraw Plus. Additionally, the Princeton Tec Remix is water resistant. The Princeton Tec Remix – gear that gets used!
Company to watch: Louis Garneau.

Last month I had the pleasure of visiting with Louis Garneau – both the company and the man himself. I can tell you that the progression of product from the Garneau company over the past several years has been more than impressive. As a cycling company, they made a firm comittment to the triathlon market a few years ago and you can see the results. When Chrissie Wellington is using your helmets and shoes to break world records, you know you have hit the big time. They have several innovative products in a variety of product categories from cycling/triathlon shoes to aero helmets to triathlon clothing. It is this comittment to our sport combined with the backing of a talented product team that allows me to confidently declare that you should be on the lookout for new product from Louis Garneau. Trust me. While I cannot officially talk about it, there are some exciting things coming. Be on the lookout…

(De)Construction
By Erik J.January 6, 2010 on 4:49 pm | In Announcements | 2 Comments
It is official – we’re under construction! In traditional TriSports.com fashion, we are working hard to improve the TriSports.com shopping experience and going all out to do so. Our current project will add a total of 10,000 square feet to our facility, including a warehouse expansion, additional office space and conference rooms, an additional break room and 1,200 more square feet in on our retail store. And to think, we just moved in 3 years ago!
Our retail store will continue to be open during construction and if you get a chance to stop in and take a look around, please excuse our mess and lack of product display. The transformation is pretty crazy to watch. At the moment we look a bit like a bombed out building, with fixtures everywhere. The good news is that the retail floor is scheduled to be finished first so we can accommodate all of our winter visitors. We also still have our in-store pick-up option for local customers who prefer to order online and not incur shipping charges. Our project will wrap up just in time for the kick-off of TRIFEST! Please stay tuned for more photos and information as we continue along.
Yep, that wall is coming down. You’re looking at the future home of our new bike fit studio.
Riding + Cookies = Delicious Fun!
By SarahJanuary 4, 2010 on 3:58 pm | In Random Musings | No Comments
We are kicking off 2010 with some yummy fun by participating in Tucson’s Tour de Cookie. This fun fundraiser takes cyclists through the city stopping at cookie stands hosted by local organizations to fuel up on tasty baked goods. The proceeds from Tucson’s tour are used to put on the Kids Try-Athlon, a free triathlon for children with special needs and/or disabilities.
TriSports.com is hosting cookie stand #5 – and we have vowed to have the BEST cookies of all, just like last year. I can’t find a better way to break that pesky New Year’s resolution of “eating healthier” than getting out there on your bike and sampling the goodies along the way! If you’re not in Tucson, there are tours planned for other cities in the US. If your city isn’t listed and you’re interested in getting one started, contact them! And now……off to bake.
